how-do-vans-fit

For over the last half century, Vans has created some of the most iconic good-looking and affordable shoes ever made, and even in 2024, it doesn’t seem like Vans is slowing down anytime.

For the last 57 years, Vans sneakers have remained affordable, high quality, good looking, and been a staple in many of our closets.

Whether you’re trying to put together a fire fit, go skateboarding, or even go hiking, there’s a shoe for you.

But when it comes to sizing, how do Vans fit in 2024?

Let’s dive right into it…

How Do Vans Fit

Seriously, I don’t even know what my true size is because my sizing is all over the place when it comes to different brands and different models.

Like I always recommend, if you can try the Vans sneakers out in the store first before you make a purchase, make sure you grab tha opportunity.

Vans MTBE 2

The Vans MTBE2 runs true to size.

Vans Sk8-Hi

Sizing-wise, the Skate High does fit pretty much true to size at least when it comes to length. However, if you have wider feet, the Sk8-Hi has been known to fit a little bit narrow so maybe go up half a size.

Vans Era

The Vans Era does fit pretty much true to size. They can be a little bit narrow, but for most people, I’d say true to size is fine.

Vans Slip On

Finding a pair in your size isn’t that difficult because they make so many pairs of them and because they fit true to size.

Here’s another way you can determine how the Vans Slip Ons fit…

If your true to size is based on Converse Chuck Taylor, then you probably have to go half a size up for your Vans Slip-ons because they made it a little bit tighter because it is a slip on.

Let’s say that your true to size is Adidas UltraBoost, then you could basically get the same size for your Vans, but anyways, Vans are super common and you probably can find them in a store nearby to try them on.

Vans Authentic

The Vans Authentic tends to run true to size.

Ultra Range Neo VR3

The Range Neo VR3 runs true to size.

Vans Sport Low

I’d say that the Vans Sport Low fits like a pair of Vans Eras or a pair of Authentics, which is true to size. However, it can be a bit narrow if you have wider feet.

Vans Lowland Comfy Kush Leather

The Lowlands do fit relatively true to size, but again, like most of the other pairs of Vans on the list, they can be considered narrow in some cases. I’ve never felt that, but if you have wider feet, you probably should go up a half size.

Vans Knu Skool

Vans did give you a pull tab on the heel to help you pull the shoe onto your feet because all of the generous padding makes it a bit hard to put on, but once you get them on, the KNu Skool do fit pretty much to your size.

They can be a little bit tight, again, because of that crazy padding, so if that’s a problem for you, maybe go up half a size or just loosen the laces and you should be just fine.

Vans Old Skool

The Old Skool run really true  to size. They fit very comfortably and snugly. They’re a little bit wider around the upper part of the toe box.

Authentic Vault LX

I choose my regular size in most of the pairs of fans and the Vaults LX are no different. Like most Vans, the Vault LX have a decent amount of room in the toe box, so if you have slightly wider feet, then these might be a good option for you.

Vans Sizing FAQ

Do Vans run small or true to size?

Based on the various styles, Vans shoes generally run true to size. The Vans MTBE2, Vans Era, Vans Slip On, Vans Authentic, Ultra Range Neo VR3, Vans Sport Low, Vans Lowland Comfy Kush Leather, Vans Knu Skool, Vans Old Skool, and Authentic Vault LX are all reported to fit true to size. However, the Vans Sk8-Hi may fit a bit narrow, particularly for those with wider feet. The Vans Slip Ons may feel tighter compared to other styles.

Do Vans run smaller than Converse?

If we compare the Old Skools to the Converse All-Star, the Old Skools are made to fit wide yet fit true to size. The Converse All-Stars Low too are made to fit wide, but they fit a half size to a full size smaller.

I do find the Converse run a bit longer, but because they’re quite narrow, if you size down, they would be too tight, but I’d always advise that you try them on for yourself because your feet may be more narrow or wider than mine.

When it comes to the Vans Sk8-Hi, they generally fit true to size in terms of length and there’s no need to size up or down because the shoe typically fits true to size. When it comes to the Vans Old Skool, you generally won’t need to size up or down as they tend to fit true to size. Should Vans shoes be tight?

Initially, Vans sneakers may feel a bit tight when you first put them on but don’t worry—it’s all part of the process. This snugness ensures a secure fit and allows the shoes to conform to your feet over time. As you break them in, you’ll notice that the canvas uppers tend to stretch and relax, which provides a more comfortable feel with each wear.
